There’s something quietly magical about the mountains in winter. Crisp alpine air, sunlight glinting off snow-covered peaks, the hum of après-ski drifting across a terrace. Traditionally, parasols have belonged to summer gardens and sun-drenched coastlines, but increasingly, they’re finding a place in the most unexpected of settings: the ski slopes.

At Boho Parasol Hut, we’ve always believed that beautiful outdoor living shouldn’t be confined to a season. Whether it’s a long summer lunch or a vin chaud enjoyed high in the Alps, the atmosphere matters just as much as the location.

Across alpine resorts, terraces are becoming destinations in their own right. Skiers pause between runs, friends gather after the lifts close, and long afternoons melt into early evenings. A well-placed fringed parasol provides more than shelter, it defines a space.

In winter settings, parasols soften the starkness of snow and timber, adding warmth, structure and a sense of considered luxury. They offer protection from bright alpine sun during the day and help create intimate zones for socialising as temperatures drop. Paired with blankets, sheepskins and timber furniture, they become part of the scenery rather than an afterthought.

A Nod to Timeless Glamour

Our design inspiration has always been rooted in classic elegance. The kind captured so beautifully by Slim Aarons; effortless glamour, beautiful people, extraordinary settings. While his lens often lingered on poolsides and terraces in warmer climates, the same spirit translates seamlessly to the mountains.

There’s a certain romance to alpine leisure that mirrors that Riviera ideal: the pause between activity and indulgence, the pleasure of being outdoors, wrapped up but still connected to the landscape.

From British Gardens to Mountain Terraces

While Boho Parasol Hut is proudly British, our pieces are designed with versatility in mind. The same parasol that elevates a quintessential English garden can feel equally at home outside a mountain lodge or boutique hotel terrace.

It’s why our work resonates so strongly with hospitality and trade partners, from summer wedding venues to hotels seeking distinctive outdoor spaces year-round. Much like our use of Liberty London fabrics or our collaboration with Aller Dorset, the aim is always the same: thoughtful design that feels enduring rather than trend-led.

Design That Travels

What excites us most about parasols in alpine settings is the idea that design travels. That good design doesn’t belong to one climate, one country or one season. It adapts, evolves and finds new expressions.

Whether it’s a terrace overlooking snow-dusted pines or a sunlit lawn at home, a parasol anchors a space. It invites people to linger just a little longer; to sit, to talk, to take in their surroundings.

Looking Ahead

As we continue to grow Boho Parasol Hut, we’re inspired by how our pieces live beyond their original context. Gardens, beaches, weddings, hotels and ski slopes too.

Because outdoor living isn’t about the weather. It’s about how a space makes you feel.
